~A Day in the Life of You~

Being “real” and capturing the essence of people is what I’m all about.  I love that I am able to  journal a moment in time for them.  My latest project is what I call, “A Day in the Life of You.” It’s a service I will now be offering that captures those real moments that happen everyday but we often take for granted–moments like the kiddos rushing to the door to greet Daddy, the kiddos playing with their toys and, well…just being kids!  How about Mom & Dad making dinner together?  Doesn’t happen at my house, but when your husband is a chef you get certain perks.

Today, I had the privilege to spend a day in the life of this beautiful family.  A family that has gone through huge ups & downs-challenges that most people will never face.  Yet, as Mom put it, “through the power of prayer,” and commitment to family they made it through.  Isn’t that what family is all about?  At the end of your life, when all is said and done, you probably won’t say, “Geesh, I wish I would have spent more time at the office; or if I could go shopping for that great outfit one more time.”  It will most likely be, “I wish I had more time with my loved ones.”  Relish those moments while they last.

May your family continue to be blessed and may your family bond continue to strengthen.  But most of all, thank you for allowing me to capture a Glimpse of your family’s Soul.

~Awesome Wonder - Part 2~

Last time I tried to photograph this gorgeous cutie pie, the weather did not cooperate.  So, we decided an at-home session would be better and she could be in her own environment.  Flash forward a few weeks and we  practically have a monsoon in Houston–attempt #2, no go.  So, can you imagine how pleased we were today when the day was as gorgeous as can be and beautiful natural light was flowing throughout the house?

I got to see my little friend for the third time.  She is still one of the spunkiest, most curious, and energetic baby girls I have ever met.  She reminds me a lot of my own children.  She is the the perfect combination of sweet and sass.

Mom is now expecting baby # 2 and I’m sure that Big Sister will be AWESOME with the new baby.  In fact, I know she will.

May all of you continue to be blessed with a happy, healthy family.  What else can one ask for, right?

~Angel Baby~

I spent some time this afternoon with the sweetest angel baby.  She has the most calm and gentle demeanor - what a blessing!  She was pure sweetness and made my job super-easy. :-)

She recently turned one, so Mom and Dad wanted to commemorate the milestone with a Glimpse of Soul session.   It’s a big occasion; one minute they’re turning 1, next minute they’re turning 5, and so on.  That’s what I love about photography; you get to capture a moment in time, so that it’s more than just a memory.  As parents, we wish we could freeze time.  With each year that passes, we ask ourselves, “where did the time go?”  It goes and it goes fast.  But if we slow down and savor these sweet moments and milestones, we can look back at our photographs and retrieve our memories of all the blessings along the way.   My goal and intention with my photography is to capture fleeting moments in time, so when clients look back they can remember how much their children have changed and yet how they remain the same.

Mom and Dad, thank you for the opportunity to capture a glimpse of your angel baby’s sweet nature.  It was a pleasure and  I wish you many more years of happiness, smiles, and sweetness from watching her grow.

~Sweet As Sugar~

I spent the morning with the sweetest little girl–petite, shy, and all sugar.   There’s just a sweetness to little girls that is almost tangible.  I learned this after having my daughter.  They bring this certain energy to a home that, truly, only a girl can bring.  I understand the “sugar and spice and everything nice saying,” now.  That’s not to say that boys are sweet and wonderful and amazing; I have two of them!  They’re just different but, needless to say, each of them bring something different to a family.  But, the sweetness of a little girl is what makes those big tough daddys’ melt and tear up when they think of their baby girls.

The way I met this baby girl’s mother is through an addiction of mine.  Yes, I admit it…my name is Eliza and I am a cupcake/cake addict.  A friend of mine referred me to her, so I asked if she would make my daughter’s birthday cake last December.  I have been HOOKED ever since.  She does beautiful work (truly an artist) and her creations taste just as wonderful as they look.  You should really check her out; her name is Candice and this is her site:  www.cakeiteasybakery.blogspot.com .   Shoot her an email and learn about her taste-testing party coming up next month; you’ll definetely want to be there! Oh, and tell her Eliza sent ya.  ;-)

In the end, I learned today that not only does Candice make the sweetest of cake creations; she makes the sweetest of baby girl creations.  Keep up the great work, Lady.

Love is All We Need (Katy Custom Photographer)

Are these not crazy times we live in?  It’s like everywhere we turn there is something else to worry about–recessions, storms, viruses!!!  It’s insanity.  In the end, all of these things remind me of what is truly important in life–LOVE.  The most powerful love of all is the love of a family–the unity, the bond.  I had the pleasure of photographing this wonderful family this past weekend.  Their loyalty to loving one another is apparent from the minute you meet them.  I love it.  Family, love…it’s all we need.

Miracle Baby & Her Handsome Brother (Katy Custom Photographer, Newborn Photography)

The young lady you see below is truly a Miracle Baby.  She was born at 24 weeks and weighed in at a whopping 1lb, 9oz.  Can you even believe it?  Today was baby girl’s official due date.  I’m so thrilled to announce that she is home with her family and is weighing in at 6 lbs already.  I couldn’t wait to meet her and see what a true fighter looks like.  Isn’t she gorgeous?  I was even able to capture some shots of her handsome big brother.  I can’t seem to get over his big beautiful brown eyes.  What a treat to do what I do!

“Fritty” (Children’s Custom Photography, Katy, Houston, Sugar Land)

My daughter’s word for “pretty” is “fritty.”  She will look in the mirror and say, “fritty, Mama, fritty.”  She even makes it sounds pretty.  I had the pleasure of photographing this baby girl for her 1-year old pictures.  I couldn’t stop thinking that she is so fritty.  What a beautiful baby girl!

Have You Ever Loved Someone So Much It Made You Cry? (Katy, TX Children’s Custom Photographer)

Have you ever heard that song?  It’s by Brandy.  A line in that song kept playing in the back of my mind as I sat here editing this session.  “Have you ever loved someone so much it made you cry?”  You may recognize the little princess in these images because this is my second time photographing her.  I had the pleasure of capturing that gorgeous smile last summer when I was first starting out.  I was honored that Mom asked me to do it again.  If you remember last time, I commented on how I was moved by how much this little girl is loved.  She has the BEST Yaya (her grandmother) EVER!  The woman showers her with love, attention, and kisses.  I kept thinking of Yaya and this song because I think she’d be the first to say she definetely loves this little one so much it makes her cry.  Thank you again for the opportunity to be around the wonderful, beautiful energy that you all give off.
