“Hey, Bruhdah…”

web403182010

“Bruhdah…hey, Bruhdah,” that’s how my 6-year old calls out for his “bruhdah” aka “brother.”  He’s been calling him that since he was 3 and I imagine he’ll always refer to him this way.  It makes me smile each time I hear him.

This afternoon I had the chance to spend some time with these handsome young men who are brothers/best friends.  It was funny to watch them tease each other and joke around.  I felt like I was catching a glimpse of how my boys will be in the future.  I realized that the dynamics of big brother/little brother never really change–older brother taunts younger brother, younger brother gets annoyed–all in good fun.  And beneath all the teasing, you can see the strong bond. As a mother of boys, when I think of the brotherly bond it gives me comfort to know that they will forever have each other, that they have a best friend for life, someone who will always have their back.   What an incredible gift!  Thank you, Fellas, for allowing me to capture memories of this awesome bond you share.

Mom, you “done” good. ;-)

My Brother’s Keeper

My heart melted this afternoon upon meeting these little guys.  As soon as they walked up to me they greeted me with a hug–such sweet souls these boys have!  Makes me tear up just thinking about it.  The more I got to talking to them, the more they made me think of my own boys.  There’s something so beautiful about a brothers’ bond–the way big brothers show their little brothers the way, guide them, and school them on any and all topics.  Then there’s the way little brothers look up to their big brothers with respect and the desire to keep up with them, and also knowing that big brother’s there to protect him.  Plus, you have an automatic best friend!  My wish for my new little buddies is that they will always remain their brother’s keeper.

Party of Five

I love this family.  I first met them back at the beginning of the year when Mom hired me to photograph her two beautiful children.  She had recently found out that she was expecting a third and said she’d call me when baby sister was born.  To my delight, I got to meet the newest addition to the family today.  Big Brother and Big Sister are so excited about their new baby sister.  How could they not be?  She has to be one of the sweetest, most calm babies I’ve ever met!  If my babies would have been that calm, I’d probably have at least five by now!  Mom, who looks absolutely spectacular, and Dad are overjoyed with their sweet little bundle of sugar who has turned this family into a party of five.   What a privilege to help welcome baby girl into this world.  Mom and Dad, may your family continue to be blessed with such wonder for years to come!

It’s All L-o-v-e

Sometimes in life you meet people with whom you instantly click .  It’s effortless and feels organic from the get-go.  I can say this about my sweet friend whom I had the pleasure of photographing with her beautiful family.  Our friendship blossomed after discovering that we both share a passion for photography.  We often talk hours about shutter speeds, white balance, and our love for this art form.    Since she is a talented artist and photographer in her own right (www.christinaanglumphoto.com)  you can imagine the pressure I felt before the session.  Thankfully, she and her gorgeous family made it easy for me.

She and the hubby have been together for ten years and have formed this beautiful family and, as you can see, they make beautiful babies!  What touched me most is the sweetness between the siblings.  Big Brother is always looking out for Baby Sister and Baby Sister is always looking to see if Big Brother is nearby.  Then there’s Mom & Dad who flirt like they’re still dating.  What a privilege to capture that and tell their story with my camera.  My hope for all of you is that you always remain this happy.

No Sibling Rivalry Here (Katy Children’s Photographer)

You may recognize the handsome little dude in these images.  His Mom asked me to take some baseball pictures of him a few months back.  Well, this time it was baby sister’s turn to get in on the fun!  Aren’t they the cutest little pair of siblings?  Gotta love it.

Soulful Urban (Katy, Houston Family Photographer)

I was SO excited to do this shoot.  Mom originally hired me to photograph her daughter who recently turned 15 but then ended up booking a session for all her gorgeous kiddos. I’m so glad she did.  I was even more excited when I threw out the idea of an urban shoot in Downtown Houston because she was just as eager as I was to have it done there.

This family has to be the most fun, united, genuinely loving family I’ve ever met.  They have so much fun together joking around, making each other laugh.  They really kept me smiling.  The kiddos were great despite the Houston heat.  Thanks again for being such great sports.  And, Mom, thanks for trusting me to capture some fun shots of your beautiful family.

Peace, Love, Joy & Abundance!

Capturing Memories (Katy, Houston Family Photographer)

There is a true passion behind what I do–I hope that translates into my images.  The reason I have pursued a career as a photographer has been simply, purely, truly because I absolutely love it.  It’s an honor everytime someone hires me to photograph them and the people they love.  I have one goal when I meet them–to capture who they are at that moment in time.  I want them to walk away with a captured memory of what their life was like at the time they met me.

Today is Memorial Day and I can’t help but think of people who have lost a loved one who bravely served for our country.  I can’t help but think of how important the photographs they have of those loved ones and what they must mean to them–how they must cherish them.  I am in love with the idea that my work is a captured memory.   My promise to my clients is to provide them with more than just a piece of paper taken by a fancy camera–anyone can do that.  My promise is to provide you with a piece of your family’s history that can one day transport you to a moment in time when you were filled with peace, love, joy & abundance–an heirloom that will tug at your heartstrings everytime you look at it.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to do that for this wonderful family.  I truly enjoyed capturing their beauty, warmth, and joy.  I am hopeful these images will provide them with smiles for years to come.  Thank you for the privilege to do what I love.

Peace, Love, Joy & Abunandance!

Love is All We Need (Katy Custom Photographer)

Are these not crazy times we live in?  It’s like everywhere we turn there is something else to worry about–recessions, storms, viruses!!!  It’s insanity.  In the end, all of these things remind me of what is truly important in life–LOVE.  The most powerful love of all is the love of a family–the unity, the bond.  I had the pleasure of photographing this wonderful family this past weekend.  Their loyalty to loving one another is apparent from the minute you meet them.  I love it.  Family, love…it’s all we need.

Peace, Love, Joy & Abunandance!
