MOXIE MOMS OF KATY
This month, I will be starting something new. In addition to Momtrepeneurs of the Month, I am going to start featuring great organizations geared towards moms. I will be on the lookout for organizations that enrich moms’ lives and help make them a little easier. If you know of any that you’d like to feature, please contact me with your information.
One of these great local organizations is Moxie Moms. The Moxie Moms mission is to “help moms succeed in their pursuit of a community of moms for friends, fun, and fitness.” Moxie Moms often holds fun-filled events for the little ones as well as the moms and allows you discounts at fabulous local retailers and service providers.

1. How did you become involved with Moxie Moms? What was it about the organization that made you want to become involved?
I became involved with Moxie Moms when I moved here last fall and met Kathy Ricke at a Moxie event at Katy Mills Mall. I just loved the idea of saving money being a mom and having fun with my kiddo and other moms…so I asked her if she ever needed any help to give me a call! And she did! When Kathy moved this summer she asked me if I would be the area manager for Moxie Moms while she was gone and I gladly said yes (though I miss her dearly!)
2. How many children of your own do you have?
I have one son and one on the way!
3. In addition to the wonderful discounts, what are some of the additional benefits of being a Moxie Mom?
There are many benefits to being a moxie mom: you get to be part of a growing network of women in the local Katy area, you get to participate in fun events with (and without) your kids, you get free stuff and doorprizes for coming to events, you get access to our Yahoo group where many referrals and reviews of local business partners are shared, and you get to meet and form friendships with amazing women from all walks of life who you may never get the chance to meet otherwise! 4. As the Katy Area manager for Moxie Moms, what would you say makes the Katy Area Chapter unique?
I believe Kathy Ricke really has put her blood, sweat and tears into making the Katy Chapter unique! She has been giving it her ALL for 2 years and attracted some AMAZING business Partners including: GYMBOREE, Double Dave’s, Bella Salon and almost a 100 more! It is my hope to continue that enthusiasm and momentum that Kathy has established here in Katy and continue to help Moxie Moms grow and continue to improve with great moms, great business partners (discounts!) and great events!
5. As a mom & business woman, what advice would you give to other mothers who are struggling to juggle it all?
NAP-TIME! For me it is all about time management and using every last minute of NAP-time to the fullest extent to get all the emails sent and follow-up calls made!
When I sit down at my computer in the afternoon I usually have a checklist of the 10-20 tasks that I need to get accomplished…and when they don’t ALL get done… it is ok…because tomorrow is another day!
