I was having the most dreadful day today. I was mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted. I have been overscheduling myself, forgetting things, trying to cram as much knowledge about photography into my human-sized brain as possible, work at my other job, tend to my kiddos, and still find time for my passion–photography sessions. Woe is me.
I was also feeling super-intimidated about today’s photo session because the child’s mom is an awesome photographer and studied it in school!!! I was flattered that she even wanted me to take her daughter’s pictures.
Anyways, so back to my sob story. On my way to the session, I turned off the radio and took sometime to just “breathe.” I always like to think about what I’m trying to accomplish when I get there. I thought, I want to truly capture LIFE when I get there. LIFE, the way only a child can display it. So, I put on my game face then loe & behold I meet…Little Miss Sunshine.
This little spunky girl greeted me with a smile and brightened up my mood with a quickness. She had stories about her friend’s upcoming birthday and how she wasn’t at all afraid of starting kindergarten. When I commented at what a smart girl she was, she replied, “yes, I’m very smart because my mommy is very smart.” I love it!
She was a total professional the whole session and time flew by. An hour later I said, “Wow, that went by fast,” to which she replied, “yeah, it was only like ten minutes.” Yes, Little Miss Sunshine, it did feel like only ten minutes.
Thank you for brightening up my day.
