CHILDREN & PARKED CARS

The summer is coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean much when you live in the South.  I stumbled upon this blog a while back and thought I would share it with all of you.  It’s a memorial site to Ava Florence-Beth Rosemeyer (2003-2007).  She tragically died after being trapped in a parked car.  I admire her family’s strength and their desire to share their story in the hopes of saving others.  Click here to visit their site: http://avarosemeyer.memory-of.com/legacy.aspx .

God bless you, Ava.

CALLING ALL MOMTREPRENEURS!

Are you a mom who has started a business from scratch?  Are you in the process of launching your business and would like some extra exposure?  I am a big supporter of mom-owned businesses, so I would like to help you out!

What I want to do is help other Momtrepreneurs get their names out there. I am looking for Momtrepreneurs, who like me, created their own business out of a great idea or by doing something they LOVE to do. Whether you own a physical store, do your business online through eBay or etsy, or however you do it, I want to hear about it!

Every month I want to feature a new Momtrepreneur and their services or goods offered. What I need from you is to send me an email to eliza@glimpseofsoulphoto.com and I will send you back a questionnaire regarding your services/goods. Those selected will receive a feature spot on my blog.

Let me know if you have any other questions and I hope to hear from you soon!

SWEET BOY

While editing, I came across this picture of Angel Baby’s brother.  He’s a sweet boy.  Doesn’t he have an angel face?  He was so well-behaved and patient while Angel Baby was having her session done.  I got a quick shot of him while we were waiting for his sister to change outfits.  I thought it would be nice to post his picture here too.  Their mother makes beautiful babies!

SLEEPING BEAUTY

Today I met SLEEPING BEAUTY.  She’s a four-day old princess who has melted everyone’s heart.  Her mom is a friend of mine who graciously offered up her first daughter for my Soul Searching Campaign.  Can I just tell you that this baby girl is destined to be a prankster.  When mom first had a sonogram done they told her she was having a boy.  Wrong!  That was prank #1.  Then mom thought she might go into labor way before her due date.  Everyone was concerned and was getting ready for the possibility of an itty-bitty baby being born way too early.  Again, that was just her being a prankster.  She instead held out for a couple more weeks and was born a healthy 7lbs, 14 oz and 20.5″ long!

Welcome to the world, Princess!  This place just got a little sweeter.

THE EXPLORER

I met the bravest little boy today.  Can you say, “all boy!”  He was the cutest little guy and tons of fun.  We went to a fun location that has tunnels, dirt, a pond.  He was so eager to explore all of it and not once did he show even a hint of hesitation.  Don’t get me wrong, he was NOT hyper or misbehaved!  On the contrary, he was very respectful and well-mannered.  He was, however, curious and fearless!  He’d ask, “what’s over there?”  I’d say, “probably snakes.”  “Cool,” he’d respond, wanting to check it out for himself and find out if I was telling the truth.  He reminded me of why I love photographing children.  If we could only see the world through their eyes forever.  Thanks, Buddy, for reminding me of just how wonderful the world can be.

Peace, Love, Joy & Abundance!

ANGEL BABY

Have you ever met an Angel Baby?  Better yet, were you blessed with an Angel Baby?  Granted, all babies are blessings and angels, but Angel Babies are the most easy-going babies with an absolute sweet disposition.  Well, I met one tonight!  This baby was all smiles and giggles from the moment she pulled up.  I caught my first glimpse of her through her Mom’s car door window.  There she was with a big smile.  I thought surely there would be a point in the session where she’d get fussy and need a break, but NOT ONCE did she stop smiling!  Mom, you’re a blessed woman.

Check out these pictures of her.  Isn’t she just gorgeous?  Hope you enjoy!

SENT FROM HEAVEN

I was so elated to do my first newborn today.  A beautiful baby boy who was so calm and sweet the whole time.  I believe he’s less than a week old.  He is the baby of three and will have two older sisters to protect him this day forward!  If I do my math correctly, that’s 3 mamas!

Seeing them this small reminds me of the blessing that is truly sent from heaven.  Congratulations, Mom!

THE SIMPLE LIFE

I grew up in a small rural town about an hour outside of Chicago.  Life there was slow and simple.  It was the kind of town where you could sleep with the windows and doors open.  Just to give you an idea of how very small it was, when we moved in ‘93 the town had just installed its first stoplight and was ecstatic that we were getting a McDonald’s.  I left before they finished building it though, so I never got to see it in it’s full glory.  Yes, people, it was a VERY small town.  I couldn’t wait to get out of there!  I always felt like I was a city girl trapped in a small town.

Today, I love living in a larger city and couldn’t see myself living in a rural area, but there are times that I miss that small town feel.  The simplicity of it, the tranquility, the slow-pace.  Today’s shoot was an homage to that small town living.  There’s something so beautiful about it–simple, yet beautiful.

My love goes out to you, Marengo!!! I will always consider it home.

YOU ARE FOR REAL

One of my favorite music artists is Amel Larrieux.  If you’ve never heard her music, look her up at www.blisslife.com. One of my favorite songs by her is called, “For Real.” Some of the lyrics are, “…I can hear, I can feel, I can see, I can tell, You Are For Real.”  Yada, yada, yada…what does that have to do with today’s session?  Well, that song reminds me of the authenticity of children.  They have no agendas, they tell you exactly what they are thinking/feeling.  They are for real!

This evening I had the pleasure of shooting these two adorable siblings.  Doesn’t she remind you of a young Raven Simone?  She had the most gorgeous hair and big brown eyes.  The little boy was ALL boy.  He too was adorable and gorgeous!  The reason I kept thinking about Amel’s song is because it made me chuckle that little brother had no interest in having his picture taken.  He wasn’t upset and didn’t cry–he just didn’t care!  He was way more interested in playing with the truck and eating a lollipop that Grandma gave him.  Love it!  As I walked to my vehicle, sweating from the workout my little bud had given me, Amel’s song kept playing over & over in my head, “…I can tell You Are For Real.”

Thank you, my little friends!!!
