Soulful Urban (Katy, Houston Family Photographer)

I was SO excited to do this shoot.  Mom originally hired me to photograph her daughter who recently turned 15 but then ended up booking a session for all her gorgeous kiddos. I’m so glad she did.  I was even more excited when I threw out the idea of an urban shoot in Downtown Houston because she was just as eager as I was to have it done there.

This family has to be the most fun, united, genuinely loving family I’ve ever met.  They have so much fun together joking around, making each other laugh.  They really kept me smiling.  The kiddos were great despite the Houston heat.  Thanks again for being such great sports.  And, Mom, thanks for trusting me to capture some fun shots of your beautiful family.

Peace, Love, Joy & Abundance!

Capturing Memories (Katy, Houston Family Photographer)

There is a true passion behind what I do–I hope that translates into my images.  The reason I have pursued a career as a photographer has been simply, purely, truly because I absolutely love it.  It’s an honor everytime someone hires me to photograph them and the people they love.  I have one goal when I meet them–to capture who they are at that moment in time.  I want them to walk away with a captured memory of what their life was like at the time they met me.

Today is Memorial Day and I can’t help but think of people who have lost a loved one who bravely served for our country.  I can’t help but think of how important the photographs they have of those loved ones and what they must mean to them–how they must cherish them.  I am in love with the idea that my work is a captured memory.   My promise to my clients is to provide them with more than just a piece of paper taken by a fancy camera–anyone can do that.  My promise is to provide you with a piece of your family’s history that can one day transport you to a moment in time when you were filled with peace, love, joy & abundance–an heirloom that will tug at your heartstrings everytime you look at it.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to do that for this wonderful family.  I truly enjoyed capturing their beauty, warmth, and joy.  I am hopeful these images will provide them with smiles for years to come.  Thank you for the privilege to do what I love.

Peace, Love, Joy & Abunandance!

Momtrepreneur - Pretty Lil Girl Boutique (Katy Custom Photographer)

Seamstresses have a special place in my heart because my Mom is one.  I grew up watching her make dresses for me.   That’s why I couldn’t wait to introduce the latest Momtrepreneur, Jessica Jones, owner of Pretty Lil Girl Boutique.  I’m so excited to feature her and her wonderful, hand-made custom products.

I’ve been a customer of Jessica for quite a while now.  I’ve purchased her beautifully handmade bows and tutus from her in the past.   I promise you, she makes the BEST HAIRBOWS in Katy, TX.  Honestly.  They are so well-made.  I’ve purchased bows from other stores, but always go back to Jessica’s bows because of their quality.  Her tutus are also as cute as can be!  To my delight, she submitted an entry to be featured as the Momtrepreneur of the Month.  I couldn’t wait to introduce her to all of you.  Below you will see a variety of images with some of her beautiful products.  All the bows & dresses were made by her.  Aren’t they adorable?!?

Here’s Jessica’s interview and advice on balancing life as a Momtrepreneur:

1.) What is the name of your business?

Pretty Lil Girl Boutique

2.) What services/goods do you sell?

Hairbows, Tutu’s, Dresses, Ruffle pants/Capri’s, Shopping Cart covers, Hairbow Holder’s, and so much more!

3). What drove you to open your own business?

Friends wanting to buy the things I make for my daughters

4.) How long have you been in business?

I have been making things for 4 years now. I am just now trying to get my business going and get my website started. I started off by wanting a cart cover for Emmalee. 4 years ago, they did not have them in pink.  I bought a pattern and a sewing machine and made her a shopping cart cover. Everything just grew from there. If I liked something, I decided to try to make it.

5.) How many children do you have?

2 Daughters–ages 4 & 2.

6.)How do you balance your business life with your family life?

I try to only work on things when I wake up at 5:30am, during naptime or after they go to bed.

7.)How can people purchase your goods/services?

For now, through email or by phone. My website will be up and running in a few months. I have a blog for now so people may view my creations http://www.prettylilgirlboutique.blogspot.com/

8.) How long did it take you to launch your business?

In other words, how much time elapsed between the time you came up with the business idea to establishing your company?  Did you face challenges?  If so, what were they? It has been 2 years since I got myand I am still working on getting a website together. The hardest part is trying to find the time to do so.

9.)What advice would you give to other aspiring Momtrepreneurs?

My best advice would be to keep it fun! This is my passion. I love creating things. If I get stressed out, I take a step back and try to simplify things.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game (Katy Custom Photographer)

How handsome is this little guy? !? He and his team are having a great season and his parents (especially Dad) couldn’t be prouder.  Before the season ends, Dad wanted to get some shots of his son sporting his uniform.

Nothing makes me happier than to capture these special moments in time.  The idea that one day Mom, Dad, and this little guy will have these images to look back on and remember this time in their lives makes my heart smile.

Good luck with the rest of the season, Big Guy!
